
Lou Peoples is an experienced CEO and Director in the energy industry, and a member of NIREC’s TCAB.
Lou has more than 35 years experience in the electric and gas energy industries. He has held senior positions as Vice Chairman of the board and Chief Executive Officer of Orange and Rockland Utilities Inc. (retired), Chairman of the New York Power Pool, and Executive Vice President of Madison Gas and Electric Company. Earlier in his career, he held positions as Senior Vice President of RCG/Hagler, Bailly, a consulting company, and Vice President of Bechtel Management Consulting Services.
Lou is currently a director of NorthWestern Corporation, a director and member of the Executive Committee of the Center for Clean Air Policy, and an Executive Board member and VP Marketing of the Nevada Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Following graduation from Stanford University (BSME, NROTC), he served in the nuclear submarine service in the U.S. Navy – nearly seven years on active duty and another 24 years in the Navy Reserve; he retired with the rank of Captain, USNR. After his active duty service with the Navy, Lou attended Harvard Business School, graduating with an MBA. He is a Certified Public Accountant (retired status) and a Registered Professional Engineer.
