Cleantech Open Nevada

The Cleantech Open is the world’s largest cleantech accelerator, providing entrepreneurs and technologists the resources needed to launch a successful clean energy company. It offers an annual business competition with a grand prize in 2012 of nearly $1 million.
Since its inception in 2006, 581 promising teams across the world have availed themselves of the Cleantech Open’s one-of-a-kind hands-on workforce development, nurturing, and funding programs. Cleantech Open’s one-of-a-kind professional development platform includes extensive mentoring, training, business clinics, investor sessions, and numerous opportunities to showcase to the media, the public and the investor community. The Cleantech Open finds, funds and fosters the most promising cleantech startups on the planet.
In early 2012, NIREC partnered with local businessperson Chip Evans to launch a chapter of Cleantech Open in Nevada. We have sponsored and hosted in excess of 10 networking and mentoring events, promoted the competition widely through our networks, and recently participated in the first mock judging ever held in the State. The Nevada chapter of Cleantech Open brings the national competition closer to home for participants in the State, and we’re delighted to have seen participation rise from 3 teams last year, to 16 this year, of which a record 6 accepted semi-finalist places.
